Get to know  Knotty Emily

KnottyEmily

Oh my an about me section, hold on! I started my journey in rope as a model with the opportunity to add some Jute to my session. I was hooked! With the help of my now assistant Carmen, she got me in touch with the local rope community and rope photo group. My journey into rope is greatly based on the foundation of the leaders remolding my mindset of rope in a healthy consensual manner with safety and education. When I first started I was a bottom with a focus on modeling in rope for ground and suspension shoots. Of course, COVID hit in 2020 and the local venue had to shut down. This is where I started to focus on self-tying and going on social media for live feeds for tutorials called Knotty Nights with Emily. With great vulnerability, I spent hours with strangers and fellow online creatives who became good friends over the years. Not having a top ended up not being that big of a problem as it forced me to learn and grow in self suspensions. Life was messy and I loved knowing that I could hold the power to create my own headspace and clear my mind. Now in 2019, I went to this event called Trauma and I remember seeing this performance in rope that took my breath away and was like, one day that's going to be me. Fast forward to 2022, I took my shot and got my first flight as a solo suspension artist on the main stage with my "Unholy" performance. Words cannot describe what it was like to face my fears, trust in my knowledge, and live my dream. Since then the doors just keep opening with performances and teaching opportunities. I hope to grow as a performer, educator, and safe leader in the community. Keep chasing your dreams!

Carmen

Words cannot describe how much appreciation I have for this human! I met Carmen as a model a few years back, and our friendship has just blossomed over the years in the wildest ways. She is a part of my family, inner circle, and an outstanding human that people should aspire to be. When I asked her in 2022 hey do you want to do this weird event and dress up as my sexy assistant, she said absolutely. Obviously, not knowing the depth that she was going to commit to, as she is a full member of the process. As a performer, I rely heavily on my team it’s a collaborative effort. I would not be who I am, without the people who are next to me, helping me every step of the way. So if you ever see this goddess at one of my shows or workshops, be sure to give her a big high-five!

Coach

I met my Coach in 2019, he was one of those amazing people I met in rope class that I just clung to. He is always a wealth of knowledge and a supportive soul for learning all things in the community. When I wanted to share my rope love with the stage there was no better person to have at your side. He has coached other great performers over the years and worked with some amazing talent worldwide. Beyond being my Coach, he is a dear friend and confidant. Very thankful for his commitment to my craft and journey.
